Be more secure online

Shopping, sending and receiving money online can be risky.

I choose to go through one of the companies listed below, as I prefer not to give companies – especially online, direct details of either my credit card, or even a bank account. this extra layer of security in itself leads to peace of mind!

One feature I really like about Paypal is that I can cancel my own subscriptions! This contrasts greatly with having direct debit arrangements with companies or even periodical payments with banks. More recently problems have arisen with buying services online either with a one month free trial or where the customer is under the impression that they have signed up for a certain period of time, and perhaps expected an online invoice to remind them of an expiring service. Unfortunately many membership sites do not advise new customers that their service is automatically renewed (many reputable websites have this stated very clearly and you can diarise yourself to follow up or cancel prior to the renewing date).

One tip here if you are unhappy, as I have been on a few occasions, where I was unaware that the subscription was automatically renewed, I pursued a refund and ensured it was received. Be aware that some membership sites rely on people not to pursue their refunds. Success comes with action. Cancel that subscription yourself on Paypal (rather than relying once again on that service which has already been shown to be less than professional.)
