We all know that the world is full of great thinkers! Especially those who sit at home or on the sidelines never daring to act and yet knocking those who do dare. Every country has them. Here in Australia we call it the ‘tall poppy syndrome’. But what separates the “gonna’s (gonnabe or going to be) or “wanna’s” (want to be’s) versus those who are living life to the full? Keep reading for the reasons you have not yet fulfilled your potential. Thoughts Thoughts must precede action. What are you thinking? Until you can control your thoughts you will forever be buffeted around like a yacht at sea without anyone sailing it. To be able to control our minds we need to guard what we put into our minds. This extends to the people we are around and electronic media. Being around negative people or people who have no integrity affects us. If we do not have strong convictions we will be influenced. Most people who have not yet seen the light regarding this revelation think that just a little bit is okay. This could be just getting drunk once a week or just coming late to work sometimes or hanging out with really rude and arrogant people who belittle anyone they think is of no importance. Life is amazing we never know who we will meet when and opportunities do come every day. Do you really want people meeting you for the first time to think you are a lazy drunk, have no respect for other people’s time by showing up late or not standing up for people when they are belittled? These incidences do matter. You can never remake a first impression. Be proactive about what goes into your mind. Read and listen to inspirational speakers and successful people. Not only read the classics such as ‘Think and Grow Rich’ but implement the knowledge. Wisdom is applied knowledge. Actions Develop a plan for your life in the various areas. The categories could be personal and professional or more detailed if you are the Chief Executive Officer of an organization then a team of you will decide the strategies to move forward. Then implement the strategies. Revise them regularly. Are they working? If not don’t just stop it but work out why – test it. Take a scientific approach and change one variable then continue, then review again. Be honest in your evaluation. Sometimes the common factor is us – we need to change for the organization to reach the goals set. Endurance Success favours those who do not give up. Focus and persistence will win the race! |
